Hear from our Whitstable Group Leader Keeley Mardon:-
I only starting running in May 2011. I had always wanted to run but never had the confidence to do it. Joining Jelly Legs helped me keep on track and believe in myself as a runner. I have now completed a marathon, half marathons and plenty of 10k's along the way! The enthusiasm from the leaders kept me going when the going got tough. I now have the opportunity as a leader to put something back into the group. I love seeing members grow in confidence and miles and achieve their personal goals.
Member Testimonials:-
"Making the effort to run can be hard. Being part of a group gives you an incentive to put on those running shoes in the first place and to make it part of your weekly routine. And I run further and faster than I ever would on my own. There is no pressure whatsoever but the support and motivation the Jelly Legs group provides means you push yourself but only at your own pace. The Jelly Legs leaders offer encouragement and work with a whole range of abilities, they are volunteers and do it it because they love running and want to help motivate others whatever stage you're at. I can't praise them enough for their dedication to helping us get moving. There is safety in numbers and the routes in the lighter evenings are just fabulous. Running along beach paths or in fields or woods is so inspiring."
"I joined Jelly Legs as a true beginner! At the age of 50 I had never run more than 50 yards without sounding like an Alsatian out for a long walk! I was badgered into joining by a friend who was already a member, determined to prove to me that even I could learn to run. Well, yes, it is true. I joined the beginner’s sessions and after just 9 weeks I could just about run/jog 5k. It still seems amazing, but slowly and surely you build up your stamina and you don't notice it so much when you are chin wagging!. My goal is to run the Race for Life this year, all the way round. Last year I walked it. Everyone can learn to run, it is done at a pace right for you and is as competitive as you want it to be, so go on, give it a try!"
